Halau performances will both on Friday, Saturday & Sunday, January 29 ,30 and 31, 2016. Volunteers are needed in various roles throughout the weekend. Please contact us with your availability and interests.

SATURDAY, JANUARY 2 - MEMBERSHIP PAYMENT DUE
SATURDAY, JANUARY 9 - PAYMENT FOR ACCESSOREIS & COSTUMES DUE
BRING LEIMAKING BAG FOR AUNTIE PAKELA TO CHECK OFF - scissors, spray bottle for water, towel and baggies and plastic container for lei. NO LEIMAKING
SATURDAY, JANUARY 16: KEIKI AT 1030 CLASS / KUPUNA & YEAR 1 AT 1200 CLASS (LEVEL 2 is needed in both classes, please contact Auntie Pakela.)
Auntie Pakela will supply cuttings. We will need all available hands to kokua with the KUPUNA / KEIKI leis, please. (Auntie ‘Olina & Auntie Makakoa are in the Philippines and we need people to make theirs. Please bring your lei making bags!! Please pay your Costumes & Accessories invoice sent by Auntie Kahanoa for us to purchase flowers for each of you.
KUPUNA & LEVEL 1/YEAR 1: No fresh flowers will be used in your lei, but on day of event baby’s breath will be used and inserted around bun and lei
KEIKI: Bun lei may include heart shaped leaves into their lei, symbolizing kalo. Auntie Pakela may supply.
SATURDAY, JANUARY 23: LEVEL 2 / HHI BOARD AT 830 CLASS
Make 1 lei po'o, instead of 2. (Auntie Pakela will be in town, after all). We will eliminate the fern and use fresh purple flowers instead, such as mini carnations and/or mini mums, lavender. Please pay your Costumes & Accessories invoice sent by Auntie Kahanoa for us to purchase flowers for each of you.
Here is the list of lei foliage that is required (photos are attached in order):
1. Sample of lei (photo attached): To be worn for all dances Friday, January 29 VIP DINNER and Sunday, January 31 MAHALO HO'IKE & ALOHA OE KUMU LEI .
2. Pepper tree cutting (photo attached)--- Leave long stem. This will be our "fern".
3. Palm fronds on pygmy tree (very common, photo attached)---Palm fronds from the little palms commonly used in landscaping. Cut the entire frond. You'll need 6-7 large ones. To save time you may strip the leaves off, but leave them long. Also. ..BEWARE of the spikes at the base of the frond.
4. Lemon tree cutting (photo attached)---Orange or lemon tree tips. Please bring 20-30 full bracts. (You can even mix them). Do not remove any leaves. Leave a four inch stem.
5. Ficus cuttings and/or something similar (see sample lei photo for other leaves not shown)---Aunty Pakela can supply.
